MATEOS will make all of the necessary arrangements
for CREW in Gibraltar including escort, accommodation
and transport to/from vessels in port or off port limits.
Crew transfers can be made quickly and efficiently
using the local airport that connects with the UK and
which is situated a few minutes from the seaport.
Further international flight connections are located in
Spain at Jerez and Malaga. Both of these airports are
approximately one and a half hours from Gibraltar by
road.
Crew members joining ships in Gibraltar do not require
visas (although visas are required by certain nationals if
travelling via Spain). Crew changes can be conducted
off-limits thereby causing minimum voyage deviation.
The VAT free status makes Gibraltar an ideal centre for taking on provisions and stores. An excellent selection of ship chandlers exist.
The new water treatment plant operated by SORT
receives oil wastes, grey water and other sullage
and is the only plant of this nature in the area.
Sullage is received by barge, directly from the Extension Jetty, or from
the Western Arm of the
North Mole.
The service includes groupage and individual container
shipment of either 20 or 40 feet, although groupage
is not offered from Felixstowe.
Individual container shipment of either size (20 or 40 feet) is also offered from Gibraltar to the above ports and other worldwide destinations.
MATEOS make all freight arrangements including customs clearance, transport and storage (we have a fully operational warehousing facility based close to the docks and the Spanish border in the North Mole Industrial Park, Gibraltar).
Gibraltar supplies the largest quantity of bunkers in
the Mediterranean. Bunkering is the port's principal
activity with over 5000 vessels being served each
year.
Suppliers include Cepsa, Shell, FAMM, Macoil, Aegean
Bunkering and Peninsula Petroleum. This fierce
competition and Gibraltar's unique tax status ensures
consistently low bunker prices.
All grades of marine fuel can be supplied, from 30 to
380 cst, low sulphur, and bunkers are delivered by a number of
barges. Vessels that call solely for bunkers are
charged only 25% of the regular port dues if they
depart directly after being supplied.
Cammell Laird operate dry-docks able to accommodate vessels up to Panamax size. A wide range of mechanical, electrical and steel workshops also exist.
Scamp Underwater Contractors are also based in Gibraltar and offer a range of specialised services including hull cleaning and maintenance, propeller polishing, underwater repairs and inspection surveys.
Spares that are not in stock in Gibraltar can be obtained quickly either by overland delivery, airfreight via London (direct to Gibraltar) or airfreight via Malaga.
Goods that arrive directly into Gibraltar by air can be cleared through customs with minimum delay at any time, although goods arriving through the Spanish border can only be cleared during the Spanish Customs opening times of 0800 to 1400hrs, Mondays to Fridays.
Gibraltar is also an ideal location for ship owners who need to hold a stock of spares for future use by vessels regularly transiting the straits.
The VAT free status makes Gibraltar an ideal centre for taking on provisions and stores.
